when Queen Victoria was ruler Captain Cook found Australia at the date of 1770 . All whealthy people were in power , they hired slaves to do simple jobs and payed them in shillings . Money was converted with trade and auctions with antiques werethey of musuem material and artifacts .Whealthy Victorian had a easy life compared to people with a life full of povety , they lived a very small life diying from life risking diseases, due to the fact waste was flung onto the streets out from pipes and the bacteria within was intoxicating. Most Victorian that were poor lived on streets but few lucky people were put in slavery which they were allowed to sleep in there house or sleep in warehouses in hammocks . Poor people probably dreamed of living in a house . But all was not well in Warehouses there was a high risk of diying owners did not care for the workers they worked forty , eight hours a week providing money to there desperate family living on scraps . At the age of seven you would work no matter the gender . All families had to have a motherly figure and a father figure to look up to . They had very thew possessions . Victorian children depended on tolerant role model . Education was not free then like now . Many children did not get a education or they had a really bad teacher there were not a standard level of teachers . School was free intill the 1890 . Queen Victorian reign brought many improvements for poor children then got a education. The Victorian came up with the idea or children have a right to learn . The brought the perspectives of what children could do and couldn't do . Lessons at school were reading , writing , dictional, arithmetic. Once a week children were taught sinning , history , geography . All schools did not teach p.e and music . They did drills ( various tasks) at side of desks . Teachers used wooden frames with multi coloured beads much like the abacus . In classes there were around 70 to 80 children . There school day we're started by prayers to the Lord . They went to school at 9.am and left at 12.pm for dinner at home and came back at 2.pm and left for the day at 5.pm . Paper was very expensivethey rote on slates with slate pencils .
